Luke Campbell: Ryan Garcia Has Bitten Off More Than He Can Chew!

Olympic gold medal winner Luke Campbell is very confident in his ability to derail the rise of undefeated lightweight star Ryan Garcia.

The two boxers are set to collide in the month of November, for the vacant WBC interim-lightweight title.

Golden Boy Promotions, who handle the career of the 22-year-old boxer, are in charge of staging that card.

Campbell, who is ten years older at 32, is surprised that Golden Boy would allow Garcia to move forward with such a fight.

In his last fight, Campbell lost a hard-fought decision to Vasiliy Lomachenko, who some regard as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the sport.

“He has bitten off more than he can chew. His promotional team must think they’ve had enough of him and they’ve thrown him to the dogs. I was surprised they put him in with me,” Campbell told The Daily Star.

Garcia, 20-0, has been making waves with his social media antics on the internet.

He’s promised to not only beat Campbell – but to pick him off by knockout.

“I’m really looking forward to this one. This is a big opportunity to show the world that I’m not playing games. All these are great at talking, they are playing games. This guy is just playing games. I’ll teach him a lesson. He’s going to be sorry for this one,” Campbell said.

Campbell has been unsuccessful in two world title fights – losing to both Lomachenko and Jorge Linares.

A win over Garcia will put him in direct position for a crack at the full WBC champion Devin Haney.

“I’m not one of them who is bitter and thinks ‘I deserve it’. I just go in and put 100 percent in and I know the best of me can beat anyone in the world. I’ll retire when I want. There are no miles on the clock, I’m still fresh but when I’ve had enough it will be my decision,” Campbell said.
