Oscar De La Hoya confident he would need TWO rounds to beat Conor McGregor in boxing match

Oscar De La Hoya says he would knock out Conor McGregor in two rounds if the pair ever fought each other in a boxing ring. McGregor lost his debut boxing clash in 2017 against Floyd Mayweather.

The fight was the second-highest grossing fight in combat sports history, despite the mismatch.

De La Hoya was a pay-per-view star in his own right when he was fighting, and also had a big fight with Mayweather.

He hasn’t fought since his TKO loss to Manny Pacquiao in 2008, and finished his career with a record of 39-6.

And despite being out of the sport for 12 years, the Mexican still thinks he would have no problem handing McGregor.

MMA journalist Jed Goodman tweeted about De La Hoya’s second round prediction.

“Oscar De La Hoya on State of Combat says if he boxed Conor McGregor he’d beat him in 2 rounds,” Goodman tweeted.

De La Hoya also said: “One thing about me, I went for the kill, always. Look, Conor McGregor, I love him in the Octagon, I respect him.

“I watch him all the time, but the boxing ring is a whole different story.”

De La Hoya also mentioned back in 2017 that he would finish McGregor in a couple of rounds.

“I know I can take out Conor McGregor in two rounds,” he said.

“I’ll come back for that fight. Two rounds. Just one more fight. I’m calling him out.

“You heard it on Golden Boy Radio. Two rounds, that’s all I need.”

De La Hoya tweeted at the time his anger at McGregor’s boxing clash with Mayweather taking place.

The fight occurred just three weeks before De La Hoya-promoted Canelo Alvarez took on Gennady Golovkin for the first time, taking the shine away from a huge event.

“F*** YOU Mayweather vs McGregor BOTH OF YOU ARE DISRESPECTING THE SPORT OF BOXING,” he wrote.
