    It's no secret that Iranian fans expect greatness from their wrestlers, and gold medal droughts are unwelcome. In 1996, Rasoul KHADEM ended a 28-year Olympic gold brought when he upended five-time world champion and two-time Olympic champion Makharbek KHADARTSEV (RUS) in the 90kg Olympic finals.Four years later, it was Alireza DABIR who snatched gold. The win at the Sydney Games delivered Iran its first-ever back-to-back gold medal performance at the Games.Then, another decade's long medal drought began.That's when Hassan YAZDANI showed up. Some call him Yazdani, but most know him simply as "The Greatest."The 21-year-old lanky youngster with golden ambitions took to the mats at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio wrestling in search of redemption for his homeland.Yazdani trailed Russia's grizzled veteran Anuiar GEDUEV 6-0 in the 74kg finals, but you don't earn a nickname like "The Greatest" without the ability to perform feats of heroism.Yazdani scored six unanswered points and secured the 6-6 criteria victory.     Frank CHAMIZO (ITA) entered the 2015 World Championships looking to end Italy’s 32-year freestyle world title drought. In the quarterfinals, he squared off against world and Olympic champion Togurl ASGAROV (AZE).Chamizo opened the match up with a four-point lead, before fighting off his back after nearly giving up the opening period fall. He added a three opening period points and carried the 7-3 lead into the closing period.In the second period, Chamizo conceded two exposure points, but scored a takedown and a reversal and beat the Asgarov, 10-5. He ultimately won his final two matches and became the first Italian wrestler to win world gold since Giovanni Schillaci’s (ITA) 1983 world title run.Don't miss a move :
