Kevin Holland pulled from main event against Jack Hermansson at UFC Vegas 16

The upcoming UFC event on Dec. 5 will need a new main event after Kevin Holland was forced out of his scheduled fight against Jack Hermansson.

Holland tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the upcoming bout, which forced UFC officials to pull him from the main event. Sources confirmed the news to MMA Fighting with Holland also confirming the news via Twitter.

Holland himself was a replacement in the main event after Darren Till was forced off the card due to injury.

After fighting and winning four times already in 2020, Holland accepted the opportunity to step into the main event while facing off against a top five ranked opponent in Hermansson.

Now Hermansson is once again left without an opponent as the UFC scrambles to find a replacement to save the main event on Dec. 5.

According to a separate report via ESPN, Marvin Vettori is currently the leading candidate to take the fight against Hermansson but no deal has been struck just yet to make the fight official.

Vettori is currently scheduled to face Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza at UFC 256 on Dec. 12, but it appears the promotion might pull him in order to give the Dec. 5 card a new main event.
