Trevin Giles faints backstage, UFC Vegas 5 fight against Kevin Holland canceled

UFC Vegas 5 lost another fight just moments after the main card was slated to start after Trevin Giles fainted backstage prior to his middleweight bout against Kevin Holland.

The announcement was made during the UFC broadcast that Giles was preparing to walk to the cage when he suddenly passed out.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission immediately made the call to cancel the fight with Giles receiving medical attention after fainting.

A video shown backstage showed Giles awake and alert as he was sitting in a chair speaking to medical personnel with his coaches nearby.

This is the second matchup scrapped from the UFC Vegas 5 card on fight night after a light heavyweight fight between Gerald Meerschaert and Ed Herman was also pulled at the last minute after Meerschaert tested positive for COVID-19.
